When all else fails, ask the little old ladies on their front porches...
I learned just now that the victorian mansion i've been interested in was given by the mad scientist to the city.
That could turn out to be bad news, or not-as-bad news... it lets me know where to look next.
Update: ok, not the city, but the indiana historic landmarks foundation. link. I'm getting closer.
