Today's ebert blog is called 410 East Washington Street, which confused me at first since I live at 4015 East Washington Street, aka Rt 40, the National Road. It's Pulaski Highway where it runs from the Wilmington Airport through Baltimore. I assume it tapers out somewhere around Utah or California. The ebert column is a nice bit of americana. He writes really well when there's no movie getting in the way.

There are no words in 375-0931

Word for the day: graupel.
Apparently that's what it's doing outside.
They say (wrongly) eskimo (Aleut) has 57 words for snow, maybe English does too.
I'm 48 and I've never heard of this until today's weather report. The important thing is it's 36 out there so my sunflowers should live, I hope.
Graupel (also called snow pellets) refers to precipitation that forms when supercooled droplets of water condense on a snowflake, forming a 2–5 mm ball of rime; the snowflake acts as a nucleus of condensation in this process. The term is derived from German Graupel meaning the same.
Meanwhile, I've been focused on moving to my new house on rt 40 in indianapolis, so hadn't blogged anything for awhile. I am moved in but the unpacking is a longer process.

An old Heinlein thread.

“Adam is a prototype,” says Prof King. “Eve is better designed and more elegant.”

The Second circuit defines chutzpah in a footnote:
term to describe “an individual, [who] after being mauled by the 450-pound Siberian tiger he had been raising inside his fifth-floor apartment along with an alligator, sue[d] the city and the police who entered the apartment in an effort to rescue the animals for doing so without a search warrant”). via Howard.
