Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Phuoc Thien An Lac Program was established in 2002 for the purpose of providing relief to the needy novice monks on their way to school and studious children in poverty or in an orphanage.
As Phuoc Thien program developed, we have extended our activities to provide emergency help to the flood victims, and then recently distributed wheelchairs to those people with handicaps who are disadvantaged from working and living in society.
Phuoc Thien is a self-operated charitable program of the Buddhist nuns of An Lac Temple of Indianapolis who work in cooperation with the experienced venerable nuns in Vietnam. We are a self-sufficient operation with some degree of support from our fellow Buddhist practitioners in the community. Therefore, we do not have enough resources for Vietnam.
We suppose a stipend of $5.00 per month can make a big difference in their ways to school, but the contributions are very limited. Hundreds of applications are on hold due to lack of funds. In the year of 2006, we rejected almost 100 applications from novice monks and orphans. In 2007, because the support is even less than past years, we do not have money to give out on time for the new school year.
We wholeheartedly appreciate your continued support for the program.
On behalf of Phuoc Thien An Lac Program, we would like to respectfully thank all supporters of the program. We appreciate very much your generosity and kindness. May you all be blessed in peace with the Buddha, Dharma and the Sangha.
