$1 = 75 yen, a new low.
Sloan autobiography, Gist of Art, was published in 1939. In his book Sloan explained that: "I have always painted for myself and made my living by illustrating and teaching. I have never made a living from my painting." In his later years Sloan became increasingly concerned with studies of the nude in the 1940s. John Sloan died on 7th September, 1951. note to self get 'gist of art'

Beach umbrella sparks Occupy arrest in Indy
Tom LoBianco | Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS – State police detained an anti-Wall Street protester outside the Indiana Statehouse after they said he refused to take down a beach umbrella.
Occupy Indy protester James Kerner was arrested Thursday morning and charged with criminal trespassing. State Police Spokesman Capt. David Bursten said Kerner was blocking a fire exit.
Protesters and police said it was their first arrest in the 3-week old movement. The Indianapolis protest has been far more subdued than violent clashes in Oakland earlier this week.
Protesters on the south lawn of the Statehouse said they urged Kerner to comply with police but they say he wanted to be arrested.
Bursten said he believes the move was designed to draw attention to the Indianapolis spin-off of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
although i personally am the 1%, i've been hanging out with the occupy indy and occupy st louis groups. went to a gathering last night responding to the above arrest.

Demise of aarbi.wordpress.com.
This blog gets an order of magnitude more hits than my more serious election law blog.
So I got the idea that if I went for the lowest denominator, gossip and sex and such, I might be able to get 100,000 hits a year. I was getting about 100,000 pageviews this month, when wordpress nuked the site. It seems I violated a term of service that had been added after I started the blog, probably without notice to bloggers. Easy come, easy go. I actually thought that would happen sooner; it lasted 4 years and was just finding an audience. I think someone from reddit filed a complaint, but I'll probably never know who. So I'm looking for a new free site which doesn't censor legal content, and maybe I'll have something up in a month. Between that blog and a reddit habit, I've been neglecting my other blogs like this one.

It's 4 am,and I have time to kill before my 7:00, after which I get to go back to Indy.
Learned a lot of St Louis geography this trip. I can get places, but my routes aren't direct; mostly zigging from one landmark to another until I get where I'm headed.
